Imitating Christ

While browsing around in the attic, Junior came across an old report card which had been his father's. He brought it downstairs and compared it with the one he had just received at school and which he intended to show when his dad was in a good mood. When Dad was seated in his easy chair, Junior said, "Hey Dad, just look at this old report card of yours and then look at the one I just got. Why, your grades aren't any better than mine." The father said, "You're right, son. I guess the only fair thing to do now is give you what my Dad gave me!" The father then proceeds to remove his belt ..... Comparing ourselves by others is not wise. The apostle Paul said, "For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with certain of them that commend themselves: but they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding" (2 Cor. 10:12).

Paul also said, "Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Cor. 11:1). Christ, our perfect example (1 Pt. 2:22), is the One we are to compare ourselves to.

P.S. Have a great 4th of July with your family and friends!
