Believe

1. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came into the world as the savior of mankind. In (Matthew 3:17) the Holy Spirit testified that Jesus was the Son of God. In (Matthew 16:13-16) Peter confessed that Jesus was the Son of the living God. The church of Christ believes that Jesus is, THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD."
2. We believe that Jesus came to earth because of the love of God (John 3:16). John tells us that Jesus came to earth, and lived among us for awhile (John 1:18). Peter stated that he was an eyewitness of all that Jesus did while He was here (2 Peter 1:16-18).
3. We believe that the church of Christ is the church Jesus promised to establish (Matthew 16:18-19). We do not have any man, or organization, as our head. Jesus is our head, and all we do is directed by Him (Ephesians 1:22-23).
4. We believed the Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe the Bible is our only authority, it was given by God to inspired men (2 Peter 1:20-21), and it contains all that we need for living godly lives (2 Peter 1:3).
5. We believe there are several steps that must be taken to find salvation.
a. We must hear about Jesus. Paul tells us in (Romans 10:17), "That faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." We proclaim God's word so all men will have the opportunity to hear about the salvation God provides (Romans 10:8-10).
b. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16). When Peter was asked who Jesus was he replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God sent for the atonement of our sins.
c. We must repent of our sins (Luke 13:3). To repent means to turn away from sin. This means we stop the practice of sinning and live righteously. Repentance means that we have a deep sorrow for having offended God by our sins(2 Corinthians 7:8-10).
d. We must confess that Jesus is the Son of God, our Lord (Matthew 10:32-33). Peter made this same confession in (Matthew 16:16) and we must do so as well.
e. We must be baptized into Jesus for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38). Our baptism into Jesus is by immersion (Romans 6:3-4). Jesus also taught that we must believe and be baptized into Him (Mark 16:15-16).
f. We must be faithful till death (Revelation 2:10). Our crown comes after a life of faithfulness.
