"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is the light, and in him is no darkness at all." "He that saith he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of him stumbling" (1 John 2:10-11).
Dangers lurks in the darkness! Darkness is invading the minds of many Christians. They have unwittingly allowed the devil to project darkness into their thoughts about God. Many say that they believe in him yet they live a life completely opposite to his holiness. We can't have it both ways. There is danger lurking in the darkness of the Soul, Heart, Mind and Conscience. Being in darkness actually means that you can't see where you are spiritually. We are taught by the apostle Paul to examine ourselves (II Corinthians 13:5). We check our bank account, we weigh ourselves on the scale, we check our gas gauge, we check our oil levels, we check our phone messages etc. We must also check or examine ourselves. One dark spot on a clean white shirt calls for an immediate change church! Here's what darkness does . . .
1. Darkness - if allowed in the soul, it will try to corrupt your confidence in God by blocking your reception to spiritual knowledge (Proverbs 19:1-2).
2. Darkness - if allowed in the heart, confuses your thinking causing you to judge others while justifying your own actions (Isaiah 5:19-21).
3. Darkness - If allowed in the mind, causes spiritual blindness projected by the devil (II Corinthians 4:3-4). You will become indifferent and selective in your service to God. It will turn you outward toward your flesh instead of inward to your true self, spirit (Romans 8:5).
4. Darkness - If allowed in the conscience, kills your ability to feel anything or repair yourself and then causes you to depart from the faith spiritually, your in church ritually but you fall victim to sin listening to seducing spirits, the murmurs, the gossips, liars etc.(I Tim. 4:1-2).
5. Darkness - If allowed in the spirit, returns you to your former state before the cross (II Peter 2:9-22). You may attend church but you're bringing the worldliness with you. Having a form of godliness but denying the power of God (II Timothy 3:1-7). Your an "Old Self!"
