Job 1:14-22
Everybody at one time or another has sang the blues. You might be a fan of Hip Hop, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Country Western or R&B, but sooner or later something will reach inside and affect your heart and you'll sing the blues. Everybody sings the blues. It comes either by a broken heart, your car won't start, or maybe a hurricane blew your house apart. Maybe somebody's done you wrong, you've been out of work for too long, maybe you found out you were weak but thought you were strong, but sooner or later you'll sing that song called the blues. The blues is music about pain and suffering, it wails out the message of hurt and sorrow. Sometimes when our hearts sing the blues we've sunk about as low as we can go and it's when we feel that we're close to rock bottom, that's when we have to sing. You have to sing to survive what your suffering through. It could be for the lost of a loved one, someone killed her with a gun or bad news about your health or simply lost all your wealth. You know that whatever life's circumstances may bring rather than giving up you have to sing!
The devil taps his foot when he hears the blues pouring out of your mouth. It's music to his ears to hear all of your hurts and fears. He delights at your sickness and bathes in your tears. But when you remain faithful to God all of heaven cheers. We've been discussing the trials, temptations and tests that all of us face in life. You've heard people say, "What doesn't kill you will make you strong?" Sometime troubles get on a roll they come one after another, the devil's intention is to separate you from God. When you hold on to God and trust him through the -no matter whats- did you know that God is encouraged? God can see all that you're going through. Why doesn't he do something you might say? God is doing something, he's making you stronger, righteous, upright and pure. He is encouraged when you determine to stay with him through it all and just like any loving Father he is very proud of you. Just like a toddler you're learning to walk worthy of the vocation in which you were called. Job is our teacher for today and his message is even though your heart sings the blues, if you stick with God you can never lose!
